Megastar Chiranjeevi Takes Full Responsibility For 'Acharya' Box Office Failure

Hyderabad, October 13 - Megastar Chiranjeevi is enjoying the success of his latest hit Godfather. Though there are split opinions over the box office collection of the movie, the makers are in the mood for celebrations and have declared the film a big hit not just in India but overseas as well. ## The success of "Godfather" has come as a sigh of relief for megastar Chiranjeevi who was under pressure after the disastrous performance of his last movie Acharya. The movie, directed by Koratala Siva, was rejected by the audience from the second day onwards and it ended up as a big loss venture to the distributors. ## It was reported that Koratala Siva returned his remuneration to the distributors to make their losses and now, Chiranjeevi also makes a big claim regarding "Acharya". During the latest media interaction, Chiranjeevi said that he takes full responsibility for the film's box office failure and claimed that he and Ram Charan returned 80% of their remuneration to the producers after Acharya was rejected.## Ram Charan played a key role in the movie. Chiranjeevi further said that they take full responsibility when a film fails and at the same time, have no guilty feelings about the "Acharya" film. This is a kind gesture by the megastar towards the investors of the movie. ## Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi will next be seen in "Mega 154" which is directed by Bobby and produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Speaking about the same, Chiranjeevi said, "My dialogues in Mega 154 will be delivered in the east Godavari dialect. Hyderabad, May 2 - Megastar Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan's action drama film "Acharya" was released amid much curiosity among the fans. The movie did take a huge opening of 51 crores worldwide gross, however, the box office result after the first day turned out to be shockingly disastrous. ## Directed by Koratala Siva, the movie got bad reviews and it is termed the weakest film in director Siva's filmography. As a result of the bad reviews and negative word of mouth, the movie plumbed massively on the second day and grossed just 10 crores with a huge drop of 76%.## There was no respite for the film on Sunday as well as it further dropped to 7.70 crores gross and registered a disappointing opening weekend with 61.10 crores gross at the domestic box office. Overseas, it scored approx. 11 crores gross, pushing worldwide cume to 72 crores. With a look at it, 72 crores worldwide gross in just 3 days sounds big numbers, but the huge drop on the second day itself and with no way going forward, is going to cause major losses to the distributors. ## The movie was valued at approx. 140 crores gross in Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh & Telangana), but it seems it will be difficult for the movie to score even 50 crores AP/TG share in its lifetime run. As of now, for the first three days, the AP/TG share of "Acharya" is 38.77 crores, and as per industry insiders, the exhibitors are expected to lose approx. 80 crores. It is heading toward one of the biggest disasters in the Telugu film industry. ## "Acharya" is produced by Konidela Production Company and Matinee Entertainment. In the movie, Chiranjeevi played the title role while Ram Charan, who is fresh from his biggest blockbuster "RRR", played the second lead as Siddha. Hyderabad, April 25 - Telugu movie, Acharya is all set to hit screens on April 28. The movie stars megastar Chiranjeevi in the title role along with Ram Charan, Pooja Hegde, and Sonu Sood in key roles. Directed by Koratala Siva, the action drama movie was also supposed to feature actress Kajal Aggarwal in a key role, but her role has now been chopped off. ## Earlier, there were reports that Kajal's role was chopped off because she opted out of the movie due to her pregnancy. Director Korala Siva, however, has now revealed that Kajal's role was trimmed because it was not fitting with the premise of the movie because it was not concluded well. ## "Initially, I designed a very funny character for Kajal Aggarwal in Acharya and we also shot her portions for 3-4 days. But when I watched the rushes, her role was not really fitting with the flow of the movie, and also I was unable to conclude her role properly in the story, so I decided to trim her character and informed the same to her", the director said during a media interaction for Acharya promotions. ## Koratala Siva further said that the actress understood her concern and took the decision in a positive way. He also said that Kajal will be seen in the Lahe Lahe song with megastar Chiranjeevi. Hyderabad, April 24 - Telugu superstars Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan will be headlining the upcoming Telugu action drama film, "Acharya", which is scheduled to release on 28 April. Directed by Koratal Siva, the pre-release event of the film was held in Hyderabad on April 23. ## "Acharya" was also supposed to release in the dubbed Hindi version simultaneously with Telugu, however, the Hindi version will now be released at a later stage. During the press meet for the "Acharya" promotion, Ram Charan provided an update about the Hindi release. ## Ram Charan said that they originally planned "Acharya" to release only in Telugu due to its subject. However, considering the fact that some of the Telugu movies have done wonders in Hindi belts, Charan said they will also release the Hindi version also nearly after 1 month. Hyderabad, April 24 - Megastar Chiranjeevi's long-awaited action drama film, "Acharya" is finally releasing on April 28th in theaters worldwide. Directed by Koratal Siva, the movie also stars the current talk of the town, Ram Charan in a prominent role apart from Pooja Hegde and Sonu Sood. ## The pre-release event of "Acharya" was held on April 23 which was graced by SS Rajamouli as a chief guest apart from other Tollywood names. During the event, producer Niranjan Reddy of Matinee Entertainment clarifies a few things regarding the remuneration of the actors and director of the movie. ## It was reported that Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan, apart from director Siva, have charged a big fee to do the movie.
