Here is the full match card and everything you need to know about UFC 288 which will take place on May 6, 2023, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. ## The upcoming event holds significant importance for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), as it will mark the promotion's ninth visit to Newark and its first since UFC on ESPN: Covington vs. Lawler back in August 2019. ## Headlining the event is a highly anticipated UFC Bantamweight Championship bout between reigning champion Aljamain Sterling and former UFC Flyweight and Bantamweight Champion, as well as a 2008 Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling, Henry Cejudo. ## Initially, Zhalgas Zhumagulov and Nate Maness were scheduled to face off in a flyweight bout, but in early April, Maness had to withdraw from the bout due to injury. To fill the void, Rafael Estevam stepped in to take his place, who himself had suffered a setback two weeks prior at UFC Fight Night: Pavlovich vs. Blaydes when his opponent pulled out due to injury. ## Meanwhile, a featherweight clash between Bryce Mitchell and Jonathan Pearce was slated for the event, but Pearce had to withdraw from the fight due to an injury. However, Movsar Evloev was quick to step in as his replacement, following a similar injury-induced withdrawal when the two were set to headline UFC Fight Night: Rodriguez vs. Lemos in November 2022. ## Originally planned as the co-main event, a lightweight bout featuring former UFC Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush was expected to electrify fans.
