It features Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Giovanni Ribisi, Dileep Rao and Matt Gerald reprising their roles from the first film, with Sigourney Weaver returning in an additional role and Kate Winslet joining the cast. It follows Jake Sully, his mate Neytiri, and their Na'vi family as they flee their home after a renewed human threat and seek refuge with the Metkayina clan, an indigenous group of Pandora's ocean-dwelling people. More than a decade after the first film, the human organisation RDA returns to Pandora to begin a new colonisation effort because Earth is dying. The Sully family must adapt to a new aquatic culture and environment to protect each other from the returning RDA forces. To keep their family safe, Jake, Neytiri, and their children leave the Omaticaya clan to seek refuge with the Metkayina clan, a people of the ocean. The Sully family must learn the ways of the Metkayina, which involves adapting to a completely different, aquatic environment and learning to communicate with sea creatures. The story focuses on the Sullys' fight to stay together, survive, and overcome the hardships and tragedies they endure in their new home.

James Cameron's Avatar Becomes the First Movie Trilogy to Surpass $6 Billion Globally After Thunderous Response to Avatar: Fire and Ash

Mumbai, December 29 - James Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar franchise has scripted a historic moment at the box office, becoming the first movie trilogy ever to cross the $6 billion mark worldwide, after the thunderous response to the latest instalment, Avatar: Fire and Ash. The milestone has been achieved through the combined earnings of Avatar (2009), which grossed $2.92 billion (including re-release runs), Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), which scored $2.34 billion and Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025), which has so far grossed $760 million. Each chapter of the Pandora saga has been a massive theatrical event, drawing audiences across continents and setting new benchmarks for cinematic spectacle and scale. The original Avatar remains the biggest box office juggernaut of all time, having redefined global cinema with its groundbreaking 3D technology and immersive world-building. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Its sequel, The Way of Water, further cemented the franchise's legacy by emerging as another multi-billion-dollar blockbuster, proving that the magic of Pandora had not faded even after more than a decade. The newly released Avatar: Fire and Ash has now pushed the trilogy past the historic $6 billion milestone, despite the continued doubts over the franchise's future. The film has opened to a strong global start, registering impressive numbers across North America, Europe, and key Asian markets, including India. With $760 million through the second weekend, Avatar 3 is already among the biggest grossers of the year and is heading towards the $1 billion mark this week. As Avatar: Fire and Ash continues its theatrical run, the franchise's total is expected to climb even higher. With more Avatar films already in the pipeline, the Pandora saga shows no signs of slowing down, reinforcing its status as one of the most successful and influential film franchises in cinematic history. Avatar Fire and Ash Box Office: James Cameron's Epic Opens To Half of Avatar Way of Water's Collection In India

Mumbai, December 20 - James Cameron's highly-awaited sci-fi action adventure Avatar: Fire & Ash debuted at the Indian box office on December 19, but it couldn't ignite fire on its opening day, landing 50% less than its predecessor, Avatar: Way of Water. Back in 2022, Way of Water had a monstrous start at the Indian box office, grossing close to 50 crores in all versions. Fire and Ash was carrying good hype and was expected to land in the same range, which didn't happen. Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar proved to be a big obstacle as it continued its blockbuster on the third Friday. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) As per early estimates, Avatar 3 has grossed approximately 23.25 crores ($2.6 million) on its opening day at the Indian box office. While the numbers are no means less for a foreign title, it is definitely underwhelming for the franchise, considering the immense popularity it has generated over the years, and also for director James Cameron. The initial word of mouth for the film is decent, but as said, it is up against a volcano like Dhurandhar, which is clearly overshadowing other titles at the moment. Fire & Ash is expected to see some momentum over the weekend, but it will be tough for it to see bigger jumps due to Dhurandhar. Stay tuned...

Avatar Fire And Ash Box Office: James Cameron's Sci-Fi Projected To Open With $350 Million Worldwide

Mumbai, November 18 - Releasing amid the burden of massive expectations, James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash has begun its international rollout on Wednesday, and the final box office projections suggest that the film is heading to open between Avatar and Avatar: Way of Water worldwide. According to Variety, Avatar 3 is poised to open with $90 million to $105 million from 3,800 theatres at the domestic box office, while it is expected to collect another $250 million to $275 million internationally for a global opening weekend between $340 million to $365 million. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) For the record, the original Avatar opened to $232 million worldwide in 2009, while Way of Water debuted with $441 million. So, if the projection holds, Avatar Fire and Ash are set to open between two of the highest-grossing films worldwide. There is a lot of pressure on Fire & Ash to deliver at the box office as each of the previous two films of this sci-fi franchise grossed well over $2 billion. It is worth remembering that Avatar films, apart from opening to big numbers, are known for their incredible staying power at the box office. Avatar debuted to $77 million domestically and held onto the No. 1 spot for seven weeks, eventually climbing to $760 million in North America and $2.92 billion worldwide (including re-runs). It is currently the highest-grossing film ever globally. Avatar 2 debuted with $134 million in North America, and went on to gross $688 million and $2.3 billion worldwide. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) It needs to be seen how Avatar: Fire & Ash will perform over the weeks and follow the same path as its predecessors. If the film manages to stay true to the franchise's staying power, Avatar could become the first film franchise in history with three instalments to earn above $2 billion. Currently, it is tied with MCU's two $2 billion mega hits, 2019's Avengers: Endgame and 2018's Avengers: Infinity War. In India, Avatar 3 is scheduled to release on December 19 in multiple languages. The advances for the movie are decent here, with projections suggesting 30+ crores ($3.5+ million) opening day. Avatar: Way of Water opened to nearly 50 crores gross in 2022, and went on to gross around 500 crores in its lifetime run. Stay tuned...

Avatar Fire and Ash Box Office (Advance Booking): Sci-Fi Epic Heads To Open Lower Than Avatar Way of Water In India

Mumbai, December 15 - James Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar: Fire & Ash is heading to take a good start at the Indian box office, but is likely to fall short of the opening of its predecessor, Avatar: Way of Water. The second instalment opened to nearly 50 crores gross in 2022, which is the second biggest opening for a Hollywood film in India. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Avatar 3 advances opened 10 days ago in India in IMAX before the regular bookings kicked off a couple of days ago. As of Monday afternoon, the film's pre-sales are trailing behind 60% of The Way of Water for the opening day, with 4 days to go for release. This is, however, better than any other Hollywood release this year. If the current momentum continues till the release day, then Fire & Ash is likely to open in the range of 30-35 crores gross in India. There is Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar, which is running riot at the box office, likely to make a dent in Fire & Ash's biz, particularly in North India. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The immense popularity of the Avatar franchise is expected to bring in a big crowd, but unlike Way of Water, the upcoming film is up against a box office juggernaut called Dhurandhar, which will pose a big challenge. As the film nears its release on December 19, word of mouth will be key for its longevity at the box office. In the film, a year after settling in with the Metkayina clan, Jake and Neytiri's family grapples with grief after Neteyam's death. They encounter a new, aggressive Na'vi tribe, the Mangkwan clan, also called the Ash People, led by the fiery tribe leader, Varang, who has allied with Jake's enemy, Quaritch, as the conflict on Pandora escalates to devastating consequences. James Cameron's 'Avatar: Fire And Ash' To Be The Longest Film In The Franchise

Los Angeles, March 9 - James Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar: The Way of Water is among the longest films ever, with a theatrical runtime of 3 hours and 12 minutes. Well, the maverick filmmaker seems to be in no mood to make shorter films anymore, as his next is even longer. The third Avatar instalment - Avatar: Fire And Ash is set to be longer than The Way of Water, confirmed by the director himself. While the exact runtime is not revealed yet, Cameron revealed in an interview with Empire magazine that the next film will be a bit longer. The Avatar films are anyway longer than most of the Hollywood titles, as the first film of the franchise, released in 2009, was 2 hours and 58 minutes long and is the highest-grossing film in the history of the worldwide box office, while The Way of Water holds the record for the third biggest grosser ever. One can't expect less when it comes to Avatar movies, and unsurprisingly, the expectations are high from Fire And Ash, which debuts in cinemas worldwide later this year in December. Cameron has already hyped the movie by calling it better than the first two films, and it will be much higher in action. There are, at least, two more films in the franchise after Fire And Ash - both scheduled to hit the screens in December 2029 and December 2031, respectively. Stay tuned...

Producer Jon Landau Hints At The Sequel To 'Alita: Battle Angel'

Los Angeles, April 27 - 20th Century Studios seems to be getting inspired by the huge box office success of Avatar: The Way of Water as producer Jon Landau has teased another long-awaited sequel to 2019' Alita: Battle Angel. ## From the screenplay by James Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis, "Alita: Battle Angel", a cyberpunk action film based on Yukito Kishiro's manga series Gunnm, was released in 2019 and grossed over $400 million worldwide. It followed the titular cyborg as she discovered the truth about her identity, her friends, and the people who run the city she lives in. ## The movie ended on a cliffhanger, setting up the stage for a potential sequel. However, 20th Century Studios didn't seem too interested in the sequel, but the dedicated fans have been voicing for "Alita 2" to know the rest of the story.## Amid the continued demand, producer Jon Landau has finally provided good news regarding the sequel and said that the talks are happening for quite some time now. During an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, the "Avatar" producer confirmed that "We're working on it".## "I think what we've learned from Avatar is how much more facial nuance and subtlety that we can get into characters that we want to be emotional and emote that are humanoid. Alita would not have been possible, but for what we did on Avatar. Avatar: Way of Water would not be what it is but what we did for Alita. And now let's put that back and give it back to Alita. We're talking to (director) Robert (Rodriguez) and talking to Rosa (Salazar) and all is good".## Christopher Waltz, who played Altia's father figure, Dr. Dyson Ido, has also expressed an interest in returning for Alita 2. With the original movie's stars, director, and key producers actively interested in continuing Alita's story, the sequel seems to be more than ready to roll out soon. ## Stay tuned...

James Cameron's 'Avatar: The Way of Water' Generates $530+ Million Profit

Los Angeles, April 20 - Blockbuster filmmaker James Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar: The Way of Water finally hit theaters in December last year, 13 years after the first Avatar movie released in 2009. And to no surprise, the sequel turned out to be the biggest blockbuster worldwide of 2022. ## The fans had to wait for a longer period to visit the world of Pandora all over again after the sequels to Avatar were greenlit by 20th Century Fox way back in 2013. At the time of the announcement of the sequel, Cameron was already the reason behind the top two highest-grossing movies ever with Avatar at No. 1 and Titanic at No. 2. ## The studio might have no idea how big Avatar 2 could go at the time of its announcement. However, the anticipation over the years kept growing which ensured that we were going to witness another epic box office monster from Cameron. Just when things were going smoothly, the covid-19 pandemic hit the world, and its relentlessness made Disney skeptical about the film's box office potential. ## The production of the movie was delayed during the covid but the anticipation among the fans never died. When the film was released in December 2022, moviegoers around the world thronged to cinemas in large numbers and as things stand today, Avatar 2 is the most profitable movie of the year, according to Deadline. ## Avatar: The Way of Water grossed over $2.31 billion worldwide, including $683 million domestically (North America) and $1.63 billion internationally. In India, the sequel is the highest-grossing non-Indian movie ever with around $58 million. Avatar 2 is also the highest-grossing worldwide post the covid-19 pandemic and the third-highest-grossing film of all time. ## As per the Deadline, the total revenue of Avatar 2 is approx. $1.62 billion, including the theatrical share of approx. $1.27 billion. Against the total cost, which is approx. 1.08 billion, Avatar 2 made a profit of a whopping $532 million. ## The opening of Avatar 2, $442 million worldwide, was lower than the initial projection which was at least $500 million. At that time, many started doubting that it might not make it to the $2 billion club. But just like previous films of Cameron, it also proved everyone wrong with its longevity at the box office as it surpassed all the projections at the end of its run. ## Stay tuned...
