Box Office: 'Despicable Me 4' Surpasses $500 Million Globally; Projected To Enter $1 Billion Club
Mumbai, July 22 - After recently becoming the first animated film franchise to reach $5 billion globally, the sixth overall instalment in the Despicable Me franchise, Despicable Me 4 has surpassed $500 million at the worldwide box office and is heading towards the magical milestone of $1 billion. ## The sequel to Despicable Me 3 (2017), and the fourth main instalment, Despicable Me 4 grossed $75 million worldwide in its 5th weekend which soared its global cume to $574.4 million (4805 crores). This includes $259.5 million (2170 crores) in North America and $314.90 million (2635 crores) overseas. ## Despicable Me 4 has now overtaken the first Despicable Me"™s lifetime global haul of $544 million, to become the franchise's fifth-biggest instalment. The latest blockbuster is now being projected to enter the magical box office club of $1 billion globally, and if it gets there, it will be the third film in the franchise, after Minions ($1.1 billion), and Despicable Me 3 ($1 billion) to achieve the feat.## In 2024, only Inside Out 2, another animated blockbuster by Pixar, has crossed the $1 billion mark as it is on the line to become the all-time biggest animated grosser by crossing Frozen II ($1.45 billion).
